i have a lot of consolation magazines that i could scan.. if you want a particular issue for research, tell me and i will scan it, and you can tell to the board more what are your research, so everybody will have more insight.. .
here is one of this magazine concerning the madison square garden incident.
this incident is connected with the olyn moyle's trial and it is interessant to see the vision of rutherford concerning this.. he tried in this magazine to excuse the usher, because what he said on stage was "the word of jehovah", so nobody must stop the "spreading of the word of god".
Late to the thread!! Thanks for these scans, they are fantastic. Did anybody else see the "dirty joke" on page 2 of the first issue (November 29, 1939) posted in this thread? There is a limerick printed under the heading "Equ Seau":

I wonder of JW kids are allowed to play with Star Wars Light Sabers and say things like "May the Force be with you."...or "Come to the Dark Side".
You're kidding, right? Hard-liner witnesses won't even have the movie in their homes! (Of course, many DO...)
I remember as an elder, the CO telling us in one of our meetings how we needed to improve our shepherding of the friends... seems, as he'd visited some in the congregation with us elders during the week, he noticed movies like "Star Wars" on their DVD shelves. It "obviously indicated their lack of a spiritual mindset" if they'd have movies about war, imagined or otherwise, and "the force" was obviously a reference to spiritistic powers, cleverly disguised by Satan as entertainment through his control of Hollywood.
(no joke... he really said that to us...)
okay, so my wife and mom both got back from their public talk / wt study this evening.
my loudmouthed sister asked if there were any announcements.
the bookstudy is hereafter known as "the congregation bible study".
So with an entire week to gossip about the change, and what mean-spirited apostate might have told them early, it likely was no surprise to them here.
That's great, Jeff!! Especially since the WT study today had an entire subheading dedicated to "the most important" subject: avoiding apostates and their wicked, unity-busting reasoning. Sure was fun listening to the comments on that one! People started telling stories of what apostates had told them and how they reacted to it, before the conductor reeled it back in. LOL! I was dyin!
just got back from the assembly the bookstudy will be part of the ministry school service metting as of 2009. the cost of fuel is 1 reason.
to many elders taking bookstudys time could be better spent on other things.
family heads can now spend more time with there familys.
"But with the end so close, what's the point of taking out the trash?" Maybe I'll just do it. I'm frisky this morning.

What they were allowed: Tonka trucks, Hot Wheels, Match Box Cars, and Tinker Toys. Board Games: Candy Land, Mouse Trap, Scrabble, and Monopoly.
My folks went back and forth on Monopoly... sometimes it was okay, sometimes it wasn't. You know, it taught a "greedy attitude".
And, like momz post, water guns or pistols (Super Soakers, etc.) were not allowed...

Jehovah wasn't aware? A lot of "we" talk going on here... and no mention of Jesus in the letter at all... wasn't it he that said "come to me, my load is light and refreshing?" Sounds like the GB is a bit presumptive, here. Maybe they should have paid attention to today's WT lesson about being "yielding" to others... namely, God and Christ.
